Waukegan Roofing Plays a Part in Charity Home for Wounded Veteran

A Soldier’s Journey Home (ASJH) is a volunteer group that constructs homes for military war veterans living with serious or permanent injuries. Waukegan Roofing is committed to honoring our veterans and is thankful to have contributed on one of ASJH’s recent projects.

A Soldier's Journey Home (ASJH) Chobanov Family Build

Specialist Anthony Chobanov was always regarded as a soldier with a “get it done” attitude. He was admired by his company and superiors for his bravery in combat and focus on the welfare of this compatriots. While retrieving additional ammunition for his fellow soldiers in 2006, he was severely injured, yet still finished his mission and kept fighting. Today, he lives with a traumatic brain injury (TBI) and severe episodes of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) that make finding and holding gainful employment an impossibility.

After hearing Spc. Chobanov’s story, ASJH decided he was a great candidate for its home-building charity, which has been helping veterans for more than a decade. The organization sought out volunteers for labor, equipment, and materials. The First Midwest Bank donated a plot of land in Spring Grove, Illinois, and Manusos General Contracting, Inc. in Fox Lake was named the prime coordinator.

Our team at Waukegan Roofing was more than happy to be able to lend a hand. We recently completed the roofing on this wonderful home for a brave and honorable military veteran. Several members of our staff donated their time to both install the roof and to come by the jobsite to say hello and to give moral support to Spc. Chobanov and his wife and kids. We’re so proud of our staff, who constantly show their dedication to service and to honoring those who dedicate their lives to the service of our great nation.

To all the brave men and women who protect our freedom, and the groups and companies that helped ASJH build this home, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
